May
May is a distinguished upper grade teacher who has spent the past eight years building a love of learning in more than 350 students. She graduated from the University of Minnesota in 2009 as an Elementary Education major and Spanish minor. She also holds Master's degrees in both Elementary Education and Literacy Education. As a life-long learner, she values the professional development provided by Teacher's College Reading and Writing Project in which she has been participating for the past six years. Because of her extensive knowledge around literacy, she has served as a mentor teacher and facilitated professional development for colleagues. As an educator, May believes in building a strong positive rapport with each child, identifying their unique learning needs, and differentiating instruction to best meet those needs. She also makes learning relevant and authentic for her students by making real life connections and bringing in resources that pique students' interests. This is her second year tutoring with City Kid!
